Big Bang Theory Redux
Okay, so I've now seen all the episodes that have aired thus far, with the exception of last week's, which I haven't been able to find online. I have concluded that my initial tentative conclusions were correct: it is very funny and very true to geek culture.

ETA: It has been pointed out to me that the episode I have not seen, The Cushion Saturation, hasn't yet aired. So I'm all caught up.

My family, geeks all, loves that episode. We were worried at first that it was just the mundanes making fun of us again, but have been happily surprised with the show.

I like that the humor really works on a few levels, where it certainly can be "making fun of geeks" but in a kind of affectionate way. And, at the same time, it's kind of in group humor, too.

I like sit coms where they aren't trying to get the humor out of a funny situation, because that wears off really quickly, but where they just put a few potentially amusing characters together. And I think this qualifies, because although the original "situation" is Regular Person Meets Geeks they go beyond that pretty quickly, I think.

They're basically funny people getting into funny situations and saying funny things. And with five main characters, several good supporting ones, and a few locations (the apartment building, the other guys' homes, work places), there's enough variety to generate plots. I think they could stay funny a long time. I hope so, anyway.
