A Different Kind of "Which Candidate Do You Like Best?" Test
Okay, we've all seen the ones where they ask you your political views and then tell you which candidate you should support. This test purports to guess who you really like by seeing which candidate you associate with positive concepts. You're shown pictures of the candidates as well as positive words (friend, love, happy...) and negative words (hate, etc). Your task is to press certain keys when the candidate you're looking for shows up or one of the positive words. You go as quickly as you can and by tracking both speed and accuracy the test claims to determine who your psyche prefers.

I got the strongest positive rating for Clinton, closely followed by Obama. Then much lower down was McCain and Huckabee at the bottom of the heap. So my subconscious reflects my conscious choices. Does yours? Try it and see. If you don't have a telepath to consult, that is.

ETA: I also tried the one to find out whether I prefer gay people or straight people and it said I have a moderate preference for gay people. Interestingly, although the words it used were "gay" and "homosexual" the pictures were of two women together - none of two men.

This was very cool. While I was doing it, I could actually sense my brain 'switching' between ideas and emotions, so I think it works pretty well. And my results were as I expected: Clinton, Obama, McCain and Huckabee last.

That was interesting.

Obama was the clear leader, which I expected, followed by Clinton then Huckabee. That doesn't follow my conscious choices so I'm surprised by that.

Though, there were a couple of pictures of McCain that I found vile and that's probably part of it. :/

An interesting thing for me was that I thought they chose the most appealing *pictures* of Huckabee of the four of them. But that didn't sway me, apparently.

I had my co-supervisor take it as well and he said the same thing. Huckabee just seemed like a nice guy, someone you could trust, based on the pictures--whereas some of the others were less than desirable. :/

Clinton was way up at the top with a bit of space before Obama, a little space before HUCKABEE (?) and a lot of space before McCain. The strong positive for Clinton doesn't surprise me, but I'm surprised that Obama didn't end up just a smidge below her... and even more surprised that Huckabee was even ON the scale for me. I would definitely vote for McCain before Huckabee if the Democratic party disintegrated tomorrow. I think. LOL. Now I'm doubting myself! ;-)

As I said to Jess in comments, the pictures of Huckabee were really appealing, compared to the others. They chose ones where he looked like such a nice guy - great smile, open expression. I wonder if you were influenced by that at all. What do you think?

Anyway, I know nothing about the validity but it's sort of a fun exercise. I did two other tests and found out I like gay people and prefer Judaism to other religions. Quel surprise :-).

I read your comment about Huckabee, and I did notice how much more appealing the photographs of him were. Interesting. I've also been thinking a lot about McCain's position on the war in Iraq so that might have influenced my reactions to him.

LOL re: the other tests. I should go play around with some others, too.
