A. People who have been tagged must, if they choose to participate, write their answers on their blog and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question. Please italicize the new question if you do that.
B. Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
01. What are your nicknames?
I don't really have any, or at least none that stuck. My first name, Dale, doesn't lend itself to nicknames. I've been called assorted terms of endearment from time to time and my kids call me "Mom" but I don't think those count. My ex used to call me "DQ" affectionately sometimes, many years ago.
02. How do you style your hair?
As little as possible. I have very thick, curly hair and I wear it quite short. I used to have long hair and caring for it was a big production but it has been short since July 1987. I wash it every day, and brush it in the morning. If it's getting long (and consequently more difficult) or it got weird in the night I put hair goop in it and brush more thoroughly. I call that process "beating my hair into submission." When I have to beat it into submission a few days in a row, I give in and get it cut.
03. What's new in your life right now?
I've taken over a new volunteer project for my shul - editing and publishing the weekly shul flier.
04. How many colors are you wearing now?
Two. Black pants, black top, royal blue cardigan, black shoes.
05. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I usually say I'm an introvert who presents as an extrovert. People usually think of me as an extrovert and I do okay in lots of different social situations, but I *feel* shy and have the classic introvert quality of needing time to myself to recharge.
06. What was the last book you read?
Frank's The Wrecking Crew. I'd really enjoyed his What's the Matter With Kansas. This is sort of a follow up book, subtitled "How Conservatives Rule." I liked it quite a lot and will probably post about it.
07. Do you nap a lot?
No, but I wish I did!
08. If the person you secretly like is already taken, what would you do?
Get over it.
09. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Some difficult family issues.
10. What's your favorite dessert?
I'm not a big dessert person, but there are certainly some I like: Key Lime Pie, Trifle, Rice Pudding.
11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
Twenty minutes, tops. I always shower the night before and I don't have breakfast until I get to work. But I often spend 30 minutes to an hour in bed in the a.m. drinking coffee, reading email, and so on.
12. What websites do you visit daily?
For work I visit a bunch every day, mostly emergency management related. For non-work activities: yahoo, lj, isc, woot (almost every day). Facebook not every day but frequently. Several news sites almost every day.
13. Do you write fic? What was the last fic you wrote?
I do write fic, mostly X-Men. I've got two things I'm working on now, but the last thing I completed was a six-part story series called "A Questionable Proposition." It's a Scott/Logan movieverse story, set between the first two movies.
14. Do you like to clean?
I'm like Dorothy Parker was about writing. I hate cleaning but I love having cleaned. Well, maybe I don't *hate* it, but I don't put cleaning above my greatest joys, either. I do love a clean space, though. And I also really love cleaning supplies, and can have a great time shopping for them.
15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
Istanbul (Not Constantinople). In my class last night the professor was talking about the Ottoman Empire and the conquest of Constantinople so I suggested we sing the song. Now I can't get it out of my head.
16. What's the last movie you saw?
This should not be hard to remember! Hmm, Zara and I watched Iron Man on TV a couple of weeks ago and the kids and I saw The Dark Knight in IMAX when we went to DC last month, but I don't think either of those count, since I'd already seen them. The last movie I saw for the first time. In a theatre... I have no idea - how pathetic is that? Wait - got it: The Changeling.
17. Would you enter a relationship with your ideal partner, even if you knew he/she was seriously involved with/married to someone else and would never leave them?
I don't think of someone who is seriously involved with or married to someone else as a potential partner at all, much less an ideal one.
18. What is your least favorite thing to do that you have to do everyday?
Laundry. Okay, I don't quite do it every day - it just feels like it. And I hate it.
I tag aurienne, minisinoo, notmonica, davidfcooper, chimosa, were_lemur, wneleh, and vanessa_musing but I doubt most will do it.
