What books have you read? Certainly gay lit is a big category. Of course similarities and differences between slash fiction and mainstream published fiction is yet another fertile area for discussion.
The Last Herald Mage Trilogy: Magic's Pawn; Magic's Promise; Magic's Price
by Mercedes Lackey
I tried checking my journal archive for the other book, but I simply cannot remember what it's called. Unfortunately, my books are still packed in boxes :(
All I know is that it had a man's torso on the front with a shirt and tie. Each chapter was from a different person's POV, but the main story line was a gay teacher at an all boy's school who was more or less seduced by one of his 15 year old students. The headmaster is a closet case. It's really quite the read of how their lives go from really well organized to completely in shambles.

Re: the Mercedes Lackey books - interesting that the ones you liked so much are written by a woman. Have you read The Front Runner by Patricia Nell Warren? Another books about gay male love written by a lesbian and it's quite popular ime with slashers. And on the theme of lesbian pro-writers who write about gay men, there's also Mary Renault's historical fiction, most of which have gay men in them, as well as her contemporary (well, when she wrote it it was set in contemporary times) novel The Charioteer.
You also might want to check out some gay male writers. David Leavitt and Armisted Maupin are a good place to start.
the one that I can't remember was written by a man. Not that it helps me remember the title!!!
Thanks for the recs. I'll have to check those out!
