I'm glad you've made it through safely, and you are going to feel SO MUCH BETTER once you get that medication! I felt massive improvement within 12 hours of the first dose after radiation (and the radiation itself wasn't bad at all, apart from a sore throat and minor diarrhea, as predicted).

Your scar is much neater than mine! Congratulations to your surgeon, and also that he kept fighting to do the procedure in hospital - I'm glad nothing went wrong, but when things go wrong with thyroid surgery they do it early and fast. I still can't believe the insurance company wanted you to do major surgery as an outpatient!

That's very encouraging about the medication! I hear it often takes some time to get the dosage right, but I'll take any improvement iywkim.

I'm still pissed off at the insurance company. I did look up the study that they said proved it's safe on an outpatient basis. It's a Canadian study, relatively small, 105 people. And less than 10 hemorrhaged and none died, so on that basis...

And since here the right wing propaganda machine says that socialized medicine means health care is rationed so quality decreases, I decided to look up what the standard of care of thyroidectomy is in Canada - it's 1-2 nights in hospital. So I got pissed off all over again.

10% of your study haemmorhaging is not a good result, people!

Yeah, it took me 6 months to get the dose exactly right, but nonetheless there was a vast, immediate improvement as soon as I started on the medication.

Unbelievable. And someone got a bonus for figuring out these “savings.”
