Pesach is just around the corner...|
in the world of comic books a character can be gay, he just can't have sex
I think that's true in the world of mainstream popular culture in general! Or in the case of Brokeback Mountain, a character can have gay sex, but not "really" be gay (or at least that's how some people seem to like to explain away that movie).
As I think I've told you before, I really like your Jean-Paul/Adam pairing. I don't read the comics, so I don't know Jean-Paul in the canon, but from what you've described above, it sounds like I'd like him a lot less than your Jean-Paul. :)

Awww, Jean-Paul is adorable! Okay, he's arrogant and obnoxious sometimes too, but still...I liked him a lot when he joined the X-Men a couple of years ago, just before I stopped buying Marvel stuff. He got this crush on Iceman and showed a bit of a nicer side. (Basically, was somewhat better written than he usually is.)
Yeah yeah, I have a soft spot in my heart for Jean-Paul, since my own fic about his crush on Bobby is one of my absolute favorite pieces ::grin::
But to bring this symposium back on topic, not only was I the beta for this Passover story, I also adore it. Must remember to pimp it on my LJ!

I've heard that in Ultimates (I don't know first hand since I only read the first volume) J-P's introduced as a student at Stuyvesant High (where Adam graduated from in my fiction and where my Kendra is going in real life next year). I don't know what he's like in that series. candrawest
once suggested to me that making him so arrogant and impatient could be seen as a reflection of his powers - everyone else seems slow to him. I thought that was an interesting construction on it, and a kinder one to the writers than my assumption that they are reflecting what is a very common English Canadian view of the Quebecois.
I really loved your J-P/Bobby story. Must reread.
You were a great beta on my pesach one - I wanted to have it beta'ed by a Jew and a non-Jew so I could feel like it worked for both. Thanks for your help and thanks in advance for any pimping.

I've only seen a tiny bit of him in the Ultimate 'verse, so I know almost nothing. His portrayal there didn't grab me, but it was only an issue or two, so who knows.
But I like that view of his arrogance! That makes sense to me.
