What I Learned in My First Poll - Mo's Journal
What I Learned in My First Poll|
One issue on which fans often talk past each other is whether fics are *supposed* to be realistic. You and I think so, but not everybody does.
As for optic blasts and train stations, I forget where Stephen King cited it from, but he says that you only get one slice of bolonium in a story, and it can be a big one or a small one, but there's only one. So, sure, I'm willing to stipulate to Logan and Scott being gay guys, with superpowers, with headquarters in Westchester.
The only bononium in slash is the pairing. Established canon is exempt from the bolonium quota.

I guess I don't think that fic is supposed
to be realistic. It's just that I prefer realistic fic, in the same way that some people prefer h/c and some prefer happy endings and some prefer songfic.
I'm kind of with talktooloose
on the other part of your message. Or maybe I believe the opposite; I'm not sure :-). I think what I'm asking my readers to do is stipulate to the superpowers (I get all hot when you talk legal, Dana) but I need to convince
the reader that Scott's gay. And that for me is one of the fun challenges of slash.
