What I Learned in My First Poll

I don't personally see a mismatch in an individual among social expectations for sexual orientation, behavior and identity as "multiple selves." OTOH, when folks are in the midst of figuring out where they stand on each of those continuums (a process we sometimes call "coming out") it can feel like that. For my Scott - and many people like him, minus the optic blasts - the struggle is to find a unified identity that's true to who he is and what he needs, in spite of social pressures to the contrary. The pressures are so strong that he's internalized them and feels they are part of himself. I'm not saying that's what you're going through, but it happens to a variety of people.
