I won't play, though I'd like to. I do not need more distractions from writing! My main motiviation would be to make a connection with you so instead, I say "hi! I enjoyed your list!"

One distraction I have to get to tomorrow is a review of a book of X-Men essays I just read.

I will post Chapter 10 by Friday and I have written 3,000 words of Chapter 11 already.

You're sweet to comment even when you don't want a letter. And I'm very excited about Chapter 11. What an ambitious project this is! I think you're at novel length already, aren't you? And still in pre-X1.

I soooo love your conception of the early days of the school.

omg, if I'd known how ambitious, I'd have never started it. Oh, yes, I'm already novel length. I think at least 50% of the novel is pre-X1. Maybe 60%. Maybe 65%. I will be filling in the blanks between movies somewhat, espeicially with a significant St. John post-X2 bit. Then there will be a major post-X3 arc and a coda. In other words, once I get us to Hallowe'en (Chapter 14?) we will be through 60 or 65% of the book. I can't maintain this level of detail.

What's always tempting is to go off and fill in the blanks on more and more characters. I have some Jones stuff I'm dying to get out (I already started that in 10). But, for instance, I cut the Hank/Ororo scene that started the first draft of 10. I'll send it to you. It's good, but it set up expectations for later development that I have no intention of fulfilling.

Cheers, I'm off to do final edits on 10.
