It is lots of work. I'm trying to imagine it with twins. Some stuff would certainly be twice as hard. On the other hand, two bnai mitzvah (and two bnai mitzvah parties) would be a lot cheaper than three. Still, too late to have twins instead of three singletons :-).

Yeah, coming of age rituals are a good thing, I think. I love bnai mitzvah because adolescence is so on the cusp between childhood and adulthood and it's emblematic of that. They work hard and do a pretty sophisticated intellectual exercise; they're both learning and teaching (which is a big combo in our tradition). And then they have a party and they play like the kids they still are. I love that they can be both adult and child for a few years.
